Donating to the Ontario NDP
You can donate to various levels (Party, Riding, Candidate, etc.), but note that ALL donations are by Provincial law funnelled through the Party.
Membership: regular membership is $25 yearly. This is considered a contribution to the Party. If you contribute more than the $25 when you join, all of it is considered a contribution to the Party. The fee can be less in some cases (students, seniors, low income, etc.). If, when you join, you set up a recurring donation, it will all be considered a contribution to the Party.
Party Donation: any amount up to the max allowed ($3350 in 2023). Note that you can make ‘one-time’ or recurring donations taken automatically. This is all done through an online donation page.
Riding Donation: there are the same two types of donations to Ridings – ‘one-time’ and recurring.
One time: the Party retains 10% of the contribution, and 90% is forwarded to the Riding quarterly. (You are allowed to contribute up to $3350 to the Riding and the Party.)
Recurring: The Party retains 40% of the contribution, and 60% goes to the Riding. Same forwarding setup as above.
Candidate: you cannot contribute to a candidate until the writ drops and the candidate is officially registered.
At that time, a Candidate donation page will be available.
